New Seabury Homeowners AssociationLetter From the President

I can’t believe that it is September. The summer was really superb once we got through the rainy times that lasted into the middle of June. I hope that all of you enjoy being in New Seabury. It is beautiful throughout the community. All of the ongoing efforts that we make to trim trees, remove overgrown and diseased trees, select an ever changing array of plants and shrubs really paid off. We strive to select plants which are hardy, colorful and will grow throughout the season. Although we skirted the worst of Hurricane Irene, we did have power outages due to the high winds. These outages lasted two and a half days in some areas and we worked hard trying to get the attention of the utility company and town officials to address our concerns. Thanks to everyone who made telephone calls to the utility company to keep attention focused on our community. We also had a substantial amount of falling leaves and branches. You are responsible to clean up and remove this waste from your property. I continue to hope that our cleanup and planting projects provide you with the incentive to make a comparable effort on your property, especially with the effort needed to clean up from this storm.

Road safety is an important issue in every community, and ours is no exception. We are seen as a vacation destination, and people have been all over our roadways walking, running and riding bicycles. Please be careful as you drive around. Some people insist on walking in the road even where we have pathways. Please slow down driving throughout the community and especially on village roads since many of them are narrow and full of curves. Please help us to make driving safety an ongoing, year round initiative throughout our community.

We are proactive on the issue of security. Recall that cameras are operational at key locations including the two entrances and other strategic traffic areas in the community. Access to them has been provided to the Mashpee Police to assist in any investigations that involve our community. There is an increased presence of the Mashpee Police throughout our community. Ultimately, you have the responsibility for the protection of your property. In order to enhance your situation you may wish to consider the installation of motion lights and a home alarm system.

I hope that all of you had a great summer season and will enjoy the autumn.

Sincerely,

Phil Robillard
